Abstract:

Using a trophic network of several ecological indicators from seabirds to fish species, ECOLIND will link geographic, pollutant and health information in the marine environment, based on position data, metal contamination, biochemical stress responses and stable isotope analyses. This will enable to assess the areas and species more vulnerable to contaminants and other potential marine threats, which one would expect to have a spatial and/or a trophic relationship. This will result into a very embracing ecological assessment of the trophic network along the Portuguese coast and made available to the general public and scientific community.
