Workshop Blue StartUps
MARE, in partnership with the Sustainable Ocean Alliance and StartUp Madeira, is organising the first Blue StartUps Workshop. To be held in Funchal between 2 and 3 September, this event is aimed at young people aged between 16 and 30. Thanks to the support of global investment management company Baillie Gifford, the workshop is free of charge and priority will be given to participants from disadvantaged social backgrounds.
This event offers the possibility of mentoring in the development of business models and access to investment from the StartUp Madeira team. Successful entrepreneurs linked to the blue sector, investors and organisations that support StartUps in Madeira will also be present, giving participants practical knowledge on how to plan, raise funds and start their own business.
The Blue Startups Workshop is the first in a series of events aligned with an education and training strategy in the area of sustainability and the blue economy. This strategy aims to shape a Blue Academy - a new initiative in Madeira that will provide training opportunities for young teenagers that will support excellence in ocean-related research, nature conservation, ocean literacy, entrepreneurship, art and communication.
