At the beginning of April, as part of the Emc2 Project 'Exploring Coastal Shrimp Mots', coordinated by MARE researcher Alexandra Abreu Lima, a visit was made to the coastal area of Ancão, in the Algarve. During this visit, several female and male plants of the camarinha population - Corema album (L.) D. Don - were georeferenced, with a view to defining an environmental education trail that will allow students from schools in the region to learn about this plant, which is an Iberian endemic and whose female plants bear camarinhas, small white edible fruits.
This visit had the collaboration of Dr. João Pinto, from the Ancão Forest Management Plan team and University of Algarve Professor Cristina Veiga Pires, CIMA-ARNET Researcher and Scientific Coordinator of the aspiring Algarvensis UNESCO World Geopark.
The Emc2 Project is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT, Portugal), through the strategic projects UIDB/04292/2020 and UIDP/04292/2020 awarded to MARE - Center for Marine and Environmental Sciences, and the project LA/P/0069/2020 awarded to the Associated Laboratory ARNET - Aquatic Research Network.
