Our doctoral students Inês Ventura and Francisco Azevedo e Silva are two of the four finalists in the ‘Three Minute Thesis’ competition organised by the University of Lisbon.
This competition aims to stimulate the science communication skills of PhD students by giving them the opportunity to explain their research to an interested but non-specialised audience.
Inês Ventura's work focuses on biomimicry and its application in the field of biomedicine. The student is working with sea urchins with the aim of developing a biometric adhesive as an alternative to sutures.
Francisco Azevedo e Silva works with sea cucumbers. His doctoral thesis focuses on the conservation and restoration of populations of these animals.
Francisco and Inês will go to the Final of the competition on 6 June at 5pm at the National Museum of Natural History and Science.
