1st São Tomé and Príncipe Sea Conference

MARE, Oikos, the University of São Tomé and Príncipe and the University of Lisbon are organizing the 1st São Tomé and Príncipe Sea Conference from July 30 to 31. 

The event aims to promote discussion on the main challenges facing São Tomé and Príncipe's coastal and marine ecosystems, including the loss of biodiversity resulting from habitat destruction, over-exploitation, pollution, climate change, among other factors. This conference will also discuss how the blue economy can offer opportunities for innovation and technological advancement, and discuss strategies to strengthen maritime governance through the effective implementation of coastal and marine management policies (including the management of marine protected areas and maritime spatial planning).

Admission is free, but registration is required.
