Interferences in the Tagus” exhibition at the Gulbenkian Center for Modern Art

Until May 19, you can see the exhibition “Interferences in the Tagus” at the Gulbenkian Center for Modern Art (CAM).

Francisca Rocha Gonçalves presents an immersive sound installation inspired by the underwater environment of the Tagus River. The installation highlights the interactions of animals such as Xarroco and Corvina, in contrast to the noise pollution caused by boat traffic. The artist emphasizes the importance of sound for aquatic species and the impact of human noise, questioning why noise pollution is often neglected in environmental debates.

MARE is a partner in the development of the exhibition through the Fish Acoustics Lab, having provided underwater audio recordings taken in the Tagus estuary and information about this acoustic landscape.
