Luís Vítor Duarte, a researcher at MARE, has written an article for the March 2024 edition of the Revista de Ciência Elementar. In the article “Incursões pelo Brasil II - Dos gnaisses aos enchantos do litoral do Rio de Janeiro”, the researcher explained, in an accessible and simplified way, the geological landscape of the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Revista de Ciência Elementar is a quarterly publication aimed at a wide audience of school teachers, students at all levels of education and anyone interested in science. This magazine publishes articles presenting scientific concepts in a rigorous way, articles with a critical view of current reality, and communications on successful experiences in the teaching and dissemination of science, covering the areas of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geology.
The article was written based on the work carried out by the researcher, who has been visiting the state of Rio de Janeiro frequently since 2000. “On our daily journeys, contemplating Sugarloaf Mountain, Corcovado or Morro dos Dois Irmãos, which used to leave us stunned, quickly ceased to be unusual places. However, such landscapes never cause us visual fatigue. After all, Rio de Janeiro is the Marvelous City,” said Luís Vítor Duarte.
