From February 27th to March 1st, the Lisbon Congress Center, in Praça das Indústrias, brings together the ocean community from all over the world for the 10th edition of the World Ocean Summit & Expo, under the banner of changing the paradigm of the economy from the sea. And MARE / ARNET will be present.
The Director of MARE, Pedro Raposo de Almeida, and the researchers Zara Teixeira and Diana Esson, will be representing MARE, among the delegates of several national and international institutions present.
MARE will also be represented at the Expo Hall of the Event, on February 28th and March 1st. We will promote scientific research and innovation in all aquatic ecosystems, carried out by more than 500 MARE researchers, without forgetting the services we provide, the needs and demands of the scientific community and industry.
The event will be attended by several heads of state and government, such as President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, representatives of industries, research and also civil society.
The event will drive progress by addressing the greatest challenges facing the seas: climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. High-level policy discussions will continue to be at the heart of plenary sessions. We will retain the focus on marine industries including shipping, fishing, aquaculture, energy and tourism and this year the agenda will feature cross-industry sessions to leverage synergies and encourage cross-sector engagement.
Join us at this event, or follow our journey on social media, and be inspired by bold ideas, new paths and new partnerships, for a new and renewed yes to the goals for 2030. Economic opportunities and investment must be combined with environmental protection. Urgently. Because there's still time.
