Activity summary

My research is focused on rocky shore marine ecology, namely studies on the biology, ecology, population genetics, aquaculture, management and conservation of the stalked barnacles Pollicipes pollicipes. I described, together with other authors, a new species of stalked barnacle from Cape Verde (Pollicipes caboverdensis). Currently I am also involved in the response to strandings of marine mammals and reptiles on the Alentejo coast and in various scientific dissemination activities.
